Bao were supposedly popularized by military strategist Zhuge Liang on his journey back from battle, Zhuge Liang and his troops came across a river that was said to be impossible to cross. The river was guarded by a deity who said that if Zhuge threw the heads of 50 of his soldiers into the river they then could cross. Zhuge ordered 50 buns that looked like human heads because of their flat bases and round shapes. The solution was a success and the bao was born! 😮☺️
